joe NOTABLE BARGAINS
FOR MARCH, 2000

BY JOE BRANCATELLI

Fly Around Asia for One Price
The 2000 edition of the "All-Asia Pass" from Cathay Pacific Airways isn't quite the eye-popping bargain it used to be, but the program still allows travel to as many as 16 Asian cities for $1,099 a person. The pass includes roundtrip flights to Hong Kong from New York, Los Angeles or San Francisco and up to 30 days of travel to 15 other destinations, including Bangkok, Bali, Tokyo, Singapore and Manila. For the base price, coach-class travel is permitted now through May 14 and from August 16 through December 15. There are a myriad of options--a business-class upgrade is available for $1,000, extending the travel period to 90 days costs an additional $300 and you can travel between May 15 and August 15 for $200 more--and travelers can even extend their journeys as far as Australia and New Zealand. Join Cathay's free "CyberTraveler" program and the base price drops to $999. For complete details, use Cathay's toll-free fax-back service (800-607-3338) and request document 4001.
